From The Journey

Moments That Become Letters

River scene with boats and a bridge under a clear blue sky

01

Karlův Most, Prague, Czech Republic.

I remember standing here for a while just watching the river. The city was still waking up and everything felt unusually calm. Moments like this tend to stay with me — and sometimes they turn into letters.

02

Old Town, Dubrovnik, Croatia

We spent a lot of time just walking around these old streets. No real plan, just exploring and taking in the history.

This street is called Placa or Stradun, the main street of Dubrovnik. Years ago, each block was owned by a different noble family or aristocrat who lived here.

Walking here made me think about how much of life feels the same way sometimes. You don’t always have a perfect plan — you just keep walking, figuring things out together as you go.

03

Sicuani Town, Cusco, peru

This photo was taken in Sicuani, a small town in the Cusco region of Peru surrounded by mountains. You see alpacas around and food cooking slowly in outdoor kitchens.

The elevation here forced me to slow down whether I wanted to or not. A few times I had to just sit on the ground and catch my breath.

The interesting thing is no one seemed to mind. Everyone around moved through the day in a laid-back way, in no hurry and with no real sense of urgency. Honestly, I was more bothered that I had to stop than anyone else was about me stopping.

04

Erin-Odo, Ilesha, Nigeria

This photo was taken at Olumirin Waterfalls in Erin-Odo, near Ilesha. Our local guide told us the waterfall has seven different levels, but we only made it to the third before deciding that was enough climbing for the day.

The water here is incredibly clear and surrounded by thick forest. What made the experience even more memorable was our guide — an 8-year-old boy who had grown up in the area and knew the forest like it was his backyard.

At one point he stopped, cut a small branch from a tree he seemed to be searching for, and started using it as a toothbrush. He handed me a piece and showed me how to chew the end until it softened into bristles. I tried it, and it worked.

That small moment has stayed with me ever since. It’s one of those memories that feels worth sharing slowly, the way letters allow.

05

NGONG PING, Lantau Island, Hong Kong

After climbing all those stairs to the Buddha, I noticed these statues holding different offerings. Our local guide explained what each one represented, and the story behind them stuck with me. It’s the kind of moment that usually ends up becoming a letter.

In a world of AI, endless emails, and constant notifications, it still feels special to receive a stamped letter in the mail.

Every month you'll receive an envelope with four thoughtful things inside:

• a heartfelt letter rooted in real life — travel, motherhood, marriage, and the moments that shape us
• a postcard from one of my travels
• a recipe worth trying
• a small surprise paper good (bookmark, stationery, or something fun)

Think of it as a small pause in your day — opening your mailbox and finding something written just for you.

No algorithms. No notifications. Just something real waiting in your mailbox.

Stay as long as the letters bring you joy.

from me to you

a note from the founder

Silk & Savanna started from a simple idea: that in a world full of AI, emails, and constant notifications, it still feels special to receive a real letter in the mail.

Over the years I’ve found myself collecting more than just travel memories. I’ve gathered little lessons from different seasons of life — from marriage, motherhood, family, and even the everyday experiences of navigating corporate America.

Some moments are joyful, some are difficult, and many are the quiet reflections that happen in between.

At some point I realized that these moments felt better shared slowly, the way letters have always been shared — thoughtfully and on paper.

Silk & Savanna is my way of doing that. Each envelope is a small window into those experiences: a story, a place, a memory, or a lesson that stayed with me.

If you decide to join, I hope these letters feel like a small pause in your month. Something worth opening when it arrives in your mailbox.
